SphinxConnect 2026!
Mike and Bruce were busy last weekend (January 22-24, 2026) at the SphinxConnect conference in downtown Detroit.
Sphinx is an organization founded in 1998 by Aaron Dworkin and currently led from Afa Dworkin, dedicated to helping young musicians of color pursue careers as professional musicians. Their project include a youth string program in Detroit and Flint, summer chamber music institutes, an amazing touring chamber ensemble (Sphinx Virtuosi), and the annual concerto competition which is hosted by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
SphinxConnect is an annual convening of musicians, arts funders, and organizations dedicated to this crucial mission.
Mike and Bruce were in attendance, listening to presenters, hearing keynote speakers and performers (including the amazing Imani Winds), and connecting with peers in the arts support sphere.
Thanks to Afa, Aaron, and everyone at Sphinx for making this amazing convening happen yet again. We stand with you in support of music as a career option for those with the talent, energy, work ethic, and determination. Everyone deserves an equal shot! We hope to see you there next year.
